Our notes: A very beautiful coffee from Lerida this year, very layed and complex with good mouthfeel and texture. A brewers competition winning coffee.
This particular lot is from the Esplendorosa Estate at Lérida Estate, this Gesha is processed using the estate’s signature Waterfall method—a temperature-controlled anaerobic natural fermentation where freshly harvested cherries are cooled under continuously flowing water before slow drying on raised beds. The process enhances sweetness and fruit complexity while preserving the remarkable clarity and floral elegance that have made Lérida one of Panama’s most celebrated coffee producers. The result is a vibrant, refined cup with expressive florals, juicy stone fruit, lively citrus, and a silky tea-like finish.
Finca Lérida is one of Panama’s most historic and influential coffee estates, located in the cloud forests of Boquete on the slopes of Volcán Barú. Founded in the early 1900s by Norwegian engineer Toleff Bache Mönniche, the farm played a major role in establishing Panama’s reputation for producing exceptional specialty coffee.
Grown between 1,500 to 2,000 meters above sea level in rich volcanic soil, Finca Lérida benefits from cool mountain temperatures, dense cloud cover, and a unique microclimate that allows coffee cherries to mature slowly and develop remarkable complexity in the cup.
The estate is renowned for producing elegant and expressive coffees including Geisha, Catuai, Pacamara, and Typica varieties. Their coffees are known for vibrant florals, citrus acidity, delicate sweetness, and refined structure - characteristics that have helped define modern Panamanian specialty coffee.
